What Drives Us Forward?

If taking action is the key to producing results, why doesn’t everybody take action? Why doesn’t everybody follow through on their plans? Why is it that so many people know what they should do, but still don’t do it?

The most common reasons are: ‘I lack motivation’, ‘I’m too lazy’, ‘I don’t feel confident’ or ‘I am afraid that…’ Is this true for you as well? If you are like most people, you would probably be nodding your head.

For example, you know that you should start exercising three times a week, but you put it off because you feel lazy. As a salesperson, you know you should make ten cold calls a day, but you don’t do it because you don’t feel like being rejected. You know that public speaking will help your career, but you don’t get on stage and face the audience because you feel the fear.

At the same time, there are many things we do, knowing full well that we shouldn’t! Why is that so? That’s because we feel like doing it.

For example, you know that eating that extra piece of delicious chocolate cake is bad for your weight/health but you still do it because you feel greedy. You know that you shouldn’t go back to sleep when the alarm rings, but you still lie in because it feels so good.

Have you ever experienced a day when you managed to get a lot of things done? When your ideas flowed, when you made the best decisions and you were absolutely on form? Well on those ‘top of form’ days, you were in a series of resourceful states.

Then again, have you had days when you couldn’t get anything done? When you couldn’t do anything right? You said and did the most stupid things? How could this happen? You were the same person and had exactly the same resources available to you. The difference was that you were not in a resourceful state.

If you think about it, ‘motivation’, ‘fear’, ‘confidence’, ‘inertia – expressed as procrastination’, are nothing but emotional states we experience.

Emotional ‘States’ like ‘excitement’, ‘passion’, ‘confidence’, and ‘happiness’, ‘exhilaration ‘get us to take action and perform at our peak.

At the same time, states like ‘ fear’, ‘anxiety’, ’stress’, ‘inertia’, ‘depression’, ‘tiredness’ hold us back.

It is not logic that drives our actions. It is our emotions. Very often, we know that logically we should do something, but we don’t do it because we don’t feel like doing it.

People who take consistent action and produce great results do so because they experience many more resourceful states on a daily basis.

It is truly our emotional ’states’ that drive our actions and behaviors all the time. How we feel truly determines what we do and how we do it.

It is these empowering states that allow us to get the best out of themselves!

Realtor Tips – Body Language

Smile. Look them in the eye. Don’t cross your arms. Don’t get too close. Use their body language. Don’t blink too much.

Everyone has something to say about how you present yourself. But sometimes I wonder if we can go to far when following these instructions.

I wonder if they don’t sometimes wonder if the guy looking them directly in the eye the whole time is well a little scary. If the the guy who smiles so much maybe just doesn’t have enough of a clue to know when he shouldn’t smile. If that guy who never blinks might be a robot.

I have heard about all these little body language things for many years. I think we have all heard about them at some point or another. Hey, it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to tell me that when you smile, it relaxes people. But we don’t always do it. Sometimes we have to think about it. I wonder if that’s not just the worst thing in the world.

I mean, I know I shouldn’t cross my arms all the time. It seems like I’m mad or maybe in a power stance. And putting your hands on your hips is the same. But many is the time I have stood there with my arms dangling to my sides going, I want to do something with my arms! I can’t just let them swing there! It feels too weird! I mean, they’re SWINGING, for Gods sake!

And I KNOW that people hate it (OK, well, I know that I hate it) when people answer the phone by saying what a great day it is before even saying hello. No one wants to hear someone THAT irrationally cheerful. Its even more annoying when I am having a bad day.

At the same time, I know that people do notice things like that maybe just subconsciously, but they do. And I know I would rather work with someone who is pleasant to be around, and who makes me feel at east. That’s why I work for myself, after all. But their has to be a way to have a positive outlook and not send out signals that you are mad and unhappy without seeming like some insane robot person.

As I move forward in my career I just want to find that fine line between coming across with cheerful competence, vs coming across like an insane psychopath.

For Things To Change You Must Change First…

People always say, “What if it is really not my fault? What if the situation is totally out of my hands?”

In actual fact we always play a role in creating whatever is happening to us, whether consciously or subconsciously.

We create our experiences either through our thoughts or our actions. You can say something emphatically, but if you are thinking something else, people can pick up the vibes, or it will show up in your body language.

People who are in control of their lives believe that they create their world. If everything is going great, then they created it, not anybody else. If things are not going well, then they created it as well.

Some people tell me that they never get a good break. They never get lucky enough to land a great pportunity. They are never at the right place at the right time. I believe you create your own luck. Or I prefer the word opportunity or break.

If you never find any good opportunities, it could be because of your limiting beliefs and thoughts. If you believe that there are no opportunities around, your mind will tend to delete all the great opportunities, even if they are there right before you.

Once there was a woman who had been looking for the right partner for the last 20 years. She was in her late 30s and getting concerned she would never find her ideal guy.

When asked what she was looking for, she started describing this perfect man who had to be rich, handsome, humorous, sensitive and charming.

When asked bluntly, ‘Would this man with all these traits want to marry you?’ She had no answer.

If she wanted to attract the perfect man, she must first be that perfect woman to attract him!

One single most important message in this article is, for things to change, we must first change ourselves. When we take responsibility for what we get and change ourselves, everything and everybody else will change with us!

So, If you want to attract the best staff, be the best boss. If you want to have the best kids, be the best parent. If you want the perfect wife, then be that perfect husband. If you want the highest income, add the greatest value. If you want to attract the best customers, become the best company.

It will serve us well to remember that we are responsible for creating the events and results in our lives. To attract and get the results and situation s that we want in life, we will need to work and change ourselves in the process. Focus on yourself and success is sure to come.

Who Am I: How To Find Out Your Life Purpose and Realize Your Higher Self

If you are overweight and have tried to go on a diet, more than likely you have heard the phrase: It is not a diet – it is a lifestyle change.

As clich as that phrase may be, it is extremely accurate. Buddhism is not necessarily a religion; it should be viewed as more of a way of life. Consider it a more complicated form of Aesop fables. Buddhism is a guide by which to live. It is a way to simplify your life and realize who you truly are. Here is how I view religion and all names and terms relating to religion. Imagine this: would Buddha call himself a Buddhist? He would laugh to himself. He is in fact, a seeker of Truth.

1) The Ego

Freud had a theory about the Ego, and Buddhism has another. The two have nothing in common with each other except the name. In Buddhism, the Ego is the illusion that you are an individual in this world. You say the word I without knowing who I is.

The Ego is the piece of you that is constantly looking at the clock and timing things. The Ego is what keeps you from attaining awakening, or a higher sense of self. This is what you have to get rid of if you truly want to know who you are.

2) Who Are You?

Did you ever drag out your old yearbook? I have been known to take mine out on occasion. I look at the person starting back at me and I remember all of the things that I wanted to do and wanted to be.

I wanted to be a lawyer and a mother. I wanted to live in an apartment in the city and eventually settle in the country. I remember wanting to explore my slight artistic talent, and I also remember wanting to meet Prince Charming.

There are often a number of things we want to be when we are young, but once we grow up, life and routine complicate matters. Bills intrude into our daydreams and having children turn us into staid parents instead of fun adults. Do you truly remember what you wanted? Do you have everything you wanted? Who are you?

3) Getting to Who You Are

You can find who you are and achieve your own awakening. To begin with, write down all of the things you used to want to do. It does not matter how silly they are! If you wanted to be a rodeo clown, write it down.

If you wanted to be the president, write that down. Take a look at your list. In that list you will see all of the personalities that lie within your one body. You will see the silliness and the business person. You will see everything you are, and everything you could be.

Next, take a look at your current life. Do you like where you are? I have a friend who went to college and became a teacher. I once asked her why she wanted to become a teacher.

Her answer was this: I am not sure. I guess because my mother is one.

I knew that her career was doomed to failure, and sure enough, a few years later, she quit teaching. She did what was expected of her instead of what she wanted to do, all because she could not figure out exactly what she wanted.

What do you want? Is it achievable? Some believe that almost everything is achievable as long as you are willing to focus yourself on your task and work hard to get it. Before you can get what you want, you have to know what you want. You need to know the type of person you want to be.

4) Devil or Angel?

Another friend of mine, Renee, used to be a very sweet woman. She was the first person to make another feel comfortable, and would do everything she could for you.

One day, I realized that the sweet Renee I always knew was gone, and an always-mad Renee had taken her place. It turns out that Renee was in a relationship that changed who she was. She achieved her own awakening when she woke up one morning and realized that she was not the person she wanted to be.

She got out of that relationship and got back to being her true self. She liked the old Renee and did not want to change.

Achieving an awakening is possible for everyone, but you cannot expect it to jump out and hit you over the head. You need to work for it and think hard about who you are and what you want out of life. Once you do that, you can achieve a higher sense of self.
