Don’t be Tricked by Slot Machines!
The “One-armed Bandit,” as the modern slot machine is now known, is without a doubt the most brazen, flagrant device ever produced to swindle the general public. From its very concept, this contrivance was geared to one purpose, that of acquiring the customer’s money and at the same time providing ironclad protection for the owner.
The Modern Machine
The One-armed Bandit today has three wheels bearing the symbols long familiar to the deluded American public: Cherries, Oranges, Plums, Bells, Bars - and last but not least - Lemons.
Contrary to a somewhat common error, Lemons do not appear on all three wheels. It is impossible to hit three Lemons. The same applies to Cherries. Both these fruits are found on two wheels only; Cherries on the first and second; Lemons on the first and third. It is also possible to win even when a Lemon shows, a piece of information which may surprise some readers.
Here’s what happens when the player drops his nickel and shakes hands with the One-armed Bandit:
A pull of the lever, the wheels spin and finally come to a jolty stop in one, two, three fashion, showing any of a great variety of combinations - three symbols in a row. The payoff combinations are as follows:
Two Cherries with Bar, Orange or Plum .. 3 coins
Two Cherries with Bell or Lemon 5 coins
Three Oranges 10 coins
Three Plums 14 coins
Three Bells 18 coins
Three Bars Jackpot plus 20 coins
These payoffs vary, some machines giving 2, 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 instead of the figures named. Such machines presumably yield more “hits” to compensate for the smaller “payoffs.” But nothing should be presumed where these machines are concerned and the only persons actually compensated in the long run are the operators.
The coins land in a return slot at the bottom of the machine and this pocket is also large enough to receive the Jackpot when the Bars are hit.
The Jackpot
The Jackpot is visible through non-breakable glass at the front of the machine and, when filled, it contains about 80 coins, though this, too, can vary with different makes. For round figures, you may hit as high as $5 on a nickel machine, $10 on a dime machine, $25 on a quarter machine, $50 on a half dollar machine and $100 on a silver dollar machine. These totals, of course, include the 20 coins that the Bars deliver as their own hit.
Jackpots were added to the original Bar payoff and they are “fed” by coins put in by the players. This was a bad feature, originally, because players ignored the machine after a Jackpot was hit, as they could see that it had been emptied. This produced the quandary: Who would fill the Jackpot if the players wouldn’t?
The answer was solved by dividing the Jackpot into two compartments, the Jackpot and the Reserve Jackpot. After a Jackpot is hit, the next coin played automatically causes the Reserve to dump into the Jackpot.
A beginner who has never hit a Jackpot often thinks it includes the Reserve, as a bar of metal on the front of the machine hides the division between the two compartments. But when he sees he gets only the lower half when three Bars hit, he is soon initiated into that phase of the thing.
Naturally, the dropping of the Reserve gives the next Jackpot a good start and while some players are leery, thinking they haven’t much chance of another Jackpot hitting soon, others are glad to see a machine that has hit at all and therefore are happy to play it.
Play Until You Lose
The habitual slot machine player has only one system. That is, to pour his coins into the machine until they are all gone. The lure of the Jackpot simply adds to the futile, incessant craving in which the player goes wild every time he hits for ten or more but never counts the cash that he feeds into the machine.
Players beware - there are very few ways these machines can be beaten.

Why Gamblers Lose
There is only one way of finding out how to win at any type of gambling pastime. That is to learn why gamblers lose. That’s easily answered: They lose when they let themselves get hooked on the short end of any proposition, provided they stay with it long enough, which they usually do.
Looking at it from the opposite viewpoint, the gambler who can latch onto the long end of a proposition and stay with it should wind up a winner. In fact many gamblers do though their procedure is usually different from those who continually find themselves on the losing end.
Consider this point: When two players start matching money along with wits against each other there is bound to be a winner as well as a loser. You can argue, of course, that expenses may be involved, including license fees, taxes and such where gambling casinos are involved. But that’s to be expected in any business.
The talented night club performer who helps brighten the Las Vegas strip has to pay fees to` booking agents, managers and the public relations men who helped build him up to a high-priced attraction. Life itself is a gamble and you have to pay for the privilege of getting the most out of it. So that disposes of the philosophical side.
Now for the more practical phase. Somebody must make money from gambling or there wouldn’t be so many people in the business and staying in it. Some purists might argue that they aren’t gambling if they are in business. But if you ask any man about his business, he will tell you that it’s a gamble. There’s no business like show business; and there’s no gambling like that found in the gambling business.
This brings us to what might be classed as the usual approach. Many people get enjoyment out of gambling just as they do when they go to a restaurant or a theater. Certainly, it costs more to eat out than it does at home and theater tickets often run quite high.
But a good meal is worth it - and so is a good show - provided neither costs more than the budget should allow. By the same token, a fling at the gambling table can be charged to pleasure, entertainment, experience, or what-have-you, as long as it is kept strictly within budgetary limits. Usually, such expenditure is part of a vacation fund, as gaming devices are permitted only in certain states, as Nevada, or certain countries, such as Cuba and other Caribbean republics, as well as some European areas like the Principality of Monaco, where the famous Monte Carlo casino is located.
Words to the Wise
While players have a right to fair treatment at every recognized gambling casino, they should never expect to beat the business, particularly in the long run. Some system players have survived over many years, while others claim to have shown profits over lesser periods. But they have actually done so at the expense, not of the gambling houses, but other players whose systems have fluked. Those losers far outnumber the winners.
Another thing: Don’t expect all casinos to offer the same odds. Roulette is the great game in Europe because it gives a better break than the American version. In America, the predominating games are Craps and Black Jack for that very same reason. But rules and percentages vary. You can go shopping for the best price around gambling casinos, just as you would when buying food at a supermarket.
Just as some restaurants are known as “clip joints” and certain theaters may overprice their shows, it is possible to find “gyp joints” among gambling houses, particularly in some of the Caribbean countries. If the reader comes to the conclusion that it is smarter not to play such games at all and decides to limit his knowledge to reading about them he can be sure that he will have gotten his money’s worth.

Is There A “Best” Gambling or Betting System?
There are gamblers and there ARE the gamblers. For those who cannot control their gambling addiction and those who want to delve into the business of gambling, there are some areas to turn in a profit, day or night.
Knowledge of state laws is crucial in making your choice as well as other regulatory and statutes that you need to be knowledgeable of. Remember, the law does not exclude anyone.
As in any type of business, the most crucial aspect in establishing your business is where to locate it. Location, location, location is the key. Unless you want to jumpstart the economy of a certain locality, choosing the perfect location is by far the most difficult decision to make.
Another decision you need to make requires you to evaluate which type of gambling business you would like to get into.
There are a lot of options to choose from in going into the gambling business. One can choose to establish a casino, a lottery outlet, a wagering system, bingo social halls, sweepstakes and dice games.
Casinos
Establishing a casino at the right location can make an individual (who can afford to build one on his own) or a group of individuals rich. But the initial investment is also very steep as the place needs to be at par with world class standards to be considered as the in place to be.
Lotteries
Everybody plays the lottery. Who doesn’t want to get rich quick? So getting a franchise or a license to open a lottery outlet is also another way of making a fast buck.
Wagering and/or Race tracks
Some go for the higher stakes of taking a chance on the outcome of the game from a jockey or from someone else. Building a race track for horses, for dogs or for any other animal is also a lucrative business that can be looked into. Provided state laws allow these animals to be a part of the gaming industry.
Bingo
People just love to play bingo. And formalizing a bingo social hall is just the right business around that corner if your community is into it day and night. Aside from its entertainment value, most charity institutions use bingo socials to forward their causes and solicit funding for their activities.
Sweepstakes and dice games
These have fairly been in the community long before the more elaborate and higher stakes gambling activities available now. However, these do not lose their charms as they provide a high that most people just can handle in their daily lives.
Last word on any gambling business you would want to establish, know your state laws.

These match bonuses may vary from 25%, 50% to a high of a 400% match bonus on your first deposit to the casino that you are playing at for the first time online.

For a decent high roller bonus you will find that they are usually a 50% bonus of your first deposit to the online casino that you are playing at.
For those who play the no deposit bonus, the only one that ever benefits are the players who take them as a first time player to an online casino. With the no deposit bonuses you will find that there is no investment to be made and the only gamble is that before you may cash out any winnings you will have to meet the wagering through requirements of the casino that you are playing at first.
With the different online casinos you will as well find those that offer on going bonuses or reload bonuses when you become a regular player. These bonuses will usually have a stipulation where you will have to make your deposits using their preferred methods of deposit to their online casinos to qualify for these bonuses.

Do You Play Craps?
Remember some Hollywood movies, where you see a guy standing at the edge of a casino table, with a very sexy lady beside him, and the guy rolling two dices on the table, and betting on the results? Well, just to give you a visual image of this game, that my friend is the game of craps. This game is highly popular in United States, especially since it is a dare all game, where all can be players will roll the dice and base everything on luck and chance. So maybe that is why it is the hallmark of Las Vegas based movies
The rule in playing craps is very simple. In a casino, there will be four members of the staff for each craps table. Two of them are base dealers, the ones who give and collect the bets from the player. One is called the boxman, responsible for watching over the chips and managing the dealers and another is called the stickman, who is positioned opposite the boxman, and is responsible for calling out the results for each roll and collecting the dices that were thrown with a wooden stick.
Each of the players line up for a chance to roll the dice. A player, sometimes called a shooter, makes a bet on a roll, and the first roll is called come out roll. The bets are made against the amounts of the two dices that were rolled. You can either choose to roll one dice first, or you can have the option of making the dices hit the sides of the table. Tossing the dices is not an option, since this increases the chance of cheating on the part of the players.
There are two kinds of bets that are popular in a craps game. One is called the pass line bet, and the other is the do not pass bet. Those who use the pass line are called right bettors, and the do not pass users are called the wrong bettors.
When using the pass line bet, remember that you are betting for a total of 11 or a 7 for each roll. When you roll a 2, a 3 or a 12, you lose the game. But when you roll other numbers, you get what is called a point. If you get a point and bet on a pass line, you will win if the roll is a point, but make sure that you do not roll a 7 after the point, for you will lose. Rolling of a 7 is called seven out.
The do not pass is the opposite of the pass line bet. The player will bet that he will roll a 2 or a 3, and will win if you roll it. If you roll a 7 or an 11, you will lose.
This game is all very simple, but you have to have luck on your side to win. You leave everything to chance, and if you rolled the right amount, you win.

The Rules Of Texas Hold’em
There are many variants of poker, but the most widely played game is texas hold’em. Many people would agree that it’s also the most exciting game because it’s a very fast game, particularly online where hands are played out quicker. In this article I will explain the rules of texas hold’em.
The rules are relatively simple, but let’s start at the beginning. The game, which can be played between two and ten players, begins with a player being chosen as the dealer, denoted by a dealer chip next to them. Players to the left of the original dealer then take turns to be the dealer in subsequent hands.
Before a card is dealt an ante is created with the player to the immediate left of the dealer placing a small blind into the pot, and the player to the left of him placing a big blind. This ensures that for every hand you play, there is always at least a small ante to play for.
Then dealing begins with each player receiving two cards face down. Betting action then begins with the player to the left of the big blind. He can either call, ie match the big blind, fold, or raise.
After this round of betting finishes, the community cards are dealt. These are cards dealt face up onto the table that each player still left in can use to make the best five-card hand possible with the two cards they already hold. Three cards are dealt initially, called the flop, before another round of betting takes place, starting with the player to the left of the dealer this time.
If there are still two or more players left in at the end of this round of betting, another card is dealt, called the turn, and added to the three community cards. Another round of betting then takes place.
Again if there are still two or more players left in at this stage, then one final card is dealt, commonly referred to as the river, to make five community cards at the table. A final betting round then begins. If the remaining players all check or call each other, then a showdown takes place and each players reveals their cards to the rest of the table to determine who takes the pot.
It may seem fairly complicated at first, but once you play several hands you can pick it up surprisingly quickly, and will soon discover for yourself what an exciting game it is to play.

Bad Beats In Poker - How To Deal With Them
A bad beat is one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a poker player. It can be defined as losing a hand to an opponent who held an inferior set of cards to you, but in reality, the term is generally reserved for when your opponent wins the hand despite being a big underdog statistically to do so.
The frustrating thing about bad beats, and the reason why all poker players of all levels hate them, is because they essentially level the playing field between the professional players and the amateur players, because at times luck can overcome skill.
Nevertheless it’s a big factor in poker, and one of the reasons why poker is so universally popular, because in any given hand there’s always a chance that a rank bad hand can win through against a strong hand, especially in the most popular form of the game, texas hold’em.
Most players will have tales about how unlucky they’ve been in various hands and at various times in tournaments, but it’s the way players deal with these bad beats that will ultimately determine how successful they will be at the game.
Bad beats can really make a big dent in a player’s bankroll, and can effect the way a player plays the game. For example, you will often see players go on tilt as a result of suffering a bad beat. They may also verbally abuse the player who inflicted the bad beat, and in some cases will go after that player and try to win their money back. All of these scenarios usually only lead to the player making further dents in their bankroll as a result of reckless play.
So you have to learn to be disciplined and control your emotions. Bad beats are a part of the game, and you just have to accept the fact that even if you are a strong favourite to win any given hand, you will still lose to the occasional bad beat.
The most important thing to remember is that if you develop a sound playing strategy and stick to this strategy throughout, then the occasional bad beat will not stop you from making good long term profits from poker. Don’t make the mistake of criticising other players and chasing losses as this will only do more harm than good.
One other point worth mentioning is that if you find yourself going through a bad patch, suffering an abnormally large number of bad beats, remember that your poker play is generally sound because you’re going into a lot of hands as the favourite. Therefore statistically you will win far more of these hands than you will lose in the long run.
Plus of course, there will be times when you have some good fortune yourself and inflict bad beats on other players, so they even themselves out in the long run.

Discover The History Of Dice
It’s been said that “the best throw at dice is to throw them away.” That could or could not be true depending upon how you play the game. It’s quite true that there is little if any actual skill in shooting craps. It’s a game of pure chance. But there is something to be said for knowing the odds for various bets, and not betting when those odds are ridiculously against you.
Dice were probably evolved from knucklebones, and knucklebones from odd-shaped pebbles. The word “probably” is used because those small cubes of bone, ivory, wood or plastic have a contradictory, but romantic, history.
One thing seems certain, knucklebones or dice go back nearly to the creation of man. And wherever dice have been found, whether in the- tombs of ancient Egypt, of classic Greece, or of the far East, they differ in no material respect from those in use today. Of course, they were not always simple spotted cubes. Some were elongated or octagonal or with as many as fourteen flat surfaces. But all the surfaces had their different values and were counted, like dice.
It is almost impossible to trace clearly the development of dice as distinguished from knucklebones. In the beginning, dice had anywhere from six to twenty flat sides of different values, and knucklebones had only four. Ancient writers confused the two games, and rarely agreed on the origin of either. It is certain, however, that both were played in times before written records were kept.
Sophocles tells us that a Greek invented the game of dice, and taught it to his countrymen during the seige of Troy. Herodotus, the so-called “Father of History,” says the Lydians invented knucklebones, dice and all other games except chess. Then, too, dicing is credited with being an old Indian game.
EARLY EGYPTIAN AND ROMAN DICE
Early examples can be found in the Smithsonian Institute. Dice similar to those used today have been used from earliest times, being found among ancient relics in Egypt, the Mediterranean and the Far East. Dice were pretty crude in the beginning.
EVERYBODY’S GAME
No matter who started it, we know that dicing was a popular form of amusement even in ancient times. In Greece, the upper classes especially played the game as part of their drinking banquets. During the luxurious days of the empire, the Romans were passionate gamblers, casting their dice of crystal inlaid with gold from dice-beakers of carved ivory. Among the gamblers of the day were such big names as Augustus, Mark Antony and Nero.
Even then, there were those who wrote books on dicing, built special rooms in their palaces for it, sat up all night playing it, and those who cheated at it. Society soon took to the game, much as ours did with “Monopoly” and “Canasta” years back. Professional gamblers were common. Loaded dice came into being. Some are preserved in museums and private homes which became the resorts of gamblers. Special laws followed naturally, such as a person who allowed gambling in his home could not bring suit against another even if cheated.
Next the barbarians discovered the game of dice, possibly taught to them by their Roman conquerors. They loved it so much that, after losing their material possessions, they would gamble their personal freedom. During the Middle Ages, both knights and their ladies played dice. In France, dicing schools and clubs were formed, despite the legislation which tried to abolish the game. Soon India, the Far East, and a good part of the entire world held dicing in common.
Today dice are the crucial part of many games. An understanding of some of the history of dice just makes the games a lot more interesting!

A Look Inside Playing Poker At Home Or At A Casino
It is said that playing poker is truly addictive, once you get the hang of it. There is something in the game that holds you in thrall, mainly because you use strategies and observation to beat your opponents. Poker is especially fun if you have a natural habit of looking at other people, and reading their faces, whether they are bluffing or not. If you have this talent, then you are in for the win. With just the right deck of cards, the right strategies, a vast amount of luck. Of course, with the perfect poker face, you can almost be sure that you will be collect winnings in every game.
Playing poker usually happens in a gambling house or a casino. You go there, pick a table and start playing. One game can stretch for up to 5 hours or more. The intensity of the game can become quite alluring as you can become lost in the techniques and the bluffing this game requires. Watch your opponents, strategize with your cards and make sure that nothing is showing on your face.
But what if you have the choice of playing poker at home? Lets say play poker in the internet with the opponents and with the same decks. But then, you cannot see your opponents. Online poker is offered nowadays. This new technological development presents a way playing poker at home without the hassle of going out.
But before diving into online poker, it is nice to know the differences between the two. First of all, your strategies of reading other peoples faces to see if theyre bluffing are gone and virtually useless. So you have to rely on other things if you aim to win. You might try calculation of the cards to see if you can win. Bluffing will also put you at a disadvantage so you have to rely on playing a straight game to win. You also have to keep in mind that unlike the traditional poker, this game will definitely not stretch to about 5 hours. 10 minutes is enough for each game. You also do not have to play in just one table with online poker, instead you can join in multiple tables to assure yourself a win. You just have to keep in mind that your strategies in playing poker in a casino will be rendered useless when playing online.
Playing poker online of course greatly decreases the intensity of the game. Although playing online poses the attraction of you not leaving your house just to play, well, it has its disadvantages. Since strategizing is one main attraction in playing poker, it is still much more enjoyable if you play against real people, with real expressions and real strategies.
For real poker enthusiasts, it does not matter. If you really want to play poker, may it be in a casino or at home, you can dive in and win all these games.

Strategizing in Online Poker Games
Confidence in yourself brings you just about everything you want. You can either see yourself as a winner or as a loser in the grand scheme of things. You have to really believe in yourself and not just rely on luck to get what you want. This conviction is especially important when dealing with those that require skill and expertise. You have to have that push in order to consider yourself worthy. Think of this, for example. What if life itself has tangible levels that you have to climb on up to before you reach the top?
These levels are very much present when playing online poker. Online poker has been around since the advent of the interest in casinos and internet supremacy came through to people. Nowadays, websites dedicated solely to poker have popped up, and increased the rush of newcomers and experts alike. But how do you really win a poker game online?
You have to understand that the techniques you use when playing the conventional poker in casinos do not apply to online poker playing. The thing is, you do not see your opponents when you are online, right? So keeping the poker face or watching others expressions when they bluff is definitely out of the question. Calculating the cards that have been put down or dealt to you is the best strategy, I think. You have to be careful when you use this technique, though, because you might lose the excitement the online game has to offer. Remember that when you think too much, you take out some of the enjoyment in the process. But I guess, if it guarantees you a win, then you can go ahead and do it anyway, right?
The first rung in the ladder of online poker games is for the beginners, where bets start at about $5.00. What makes this level interesting is that the newcomers make unpredictable moves that sometimes cause them a win. These erratic moves may even scare away seasoned players for these moves rely mainly on luck and a go-get-it attitude that can be lost on a seasoned player. Surprise will be on the side of the newcomers, and this extremely agitates the veterans in poker that they may choose not to play amongst them.
But as a newcomer, you also have to know when to step up to the next level. With enough confidence and experience, you can opt to go about one or two levels higher, and maybe raise the stakes more. This way, you can choose other opponents who may have more experience than you, and you might also learn a thing or two from them.
Confidence is the key. Assess yourself if you have what it takes to climb that ladder. If you think you do, then go for it. For there is nothing better than trying and actually succeeding in what you dared hope for. Maybe you just might reach the top of the ladder, and pat yourself in the back for it!!
