Here’s how to spot the signs that you’re being sweet-talked. This story is based on a true experience. This person asked me to share her story to protect you. I have changed her name for privacy.
The Department Store Scam:
Tiffany is shopping for perfume. She’s in her own world, trying different scents. She heads over to a display stand and tries to select the right shade of blush when a woman interrupts her focus.
“I think that shade of pink would look great on you,” said a dark haired woman dressed in casual attire.
“You do?” Tiffany said, caught off guard. She picks the color the stranger suggested, even though it doesn’t feel right in her gut.
“You look sad. Is everything okay?” the woman said.
“Yes,” Tiffany said, although she didn’t sound sure.
This gave the woman confirmation that indeed Tiffany may have a weak spot. “I see your soul mate coming to you, all will turn out well,” she said.
Tiffany’s heart skipped a beat. This was the best news she’d heard all day and she had been wondering only minutes before when she’d meet “The One”. She softened.
The woman knew now was her time to strike. “The only thing is I see you have a blockage in your heart and until you clear it, you will be alone.”
Tiffany’s heart crashed into her stomach. Her mind flashed forward to being 80-years-old and alone. “Oh no. What can I do?” she said.
The woman smiled inside as she saw Tiffany turn white. “I’m a psychic. I can help,” the woman said.
“How?” Tiffany said.
“I can remove the curse”.
“Curse?!” Tiffany said.
“Yes, when it is removed you will meet your Soul Mate.”
“But I’m not cursed,” Tiffany said.
“I can see the energy block in your aura. I can remove it.” The woman could see Tiffany was considering her services. “It will only cost $450.00. We should do this immediately. I can see you tomorrow for an appointment.”
Thankfully Tiffany regained her sense of awareness and declined a session. Her gut instinct said this woman was a fraud but she was traumatized by the woman’s words. They haunted her for the next few days. What if it were true? Was she cursed? Would she be alone forever?
Her logical mind knew that she had been targeted for a scam. When we spoke I confirmed that this woman was a fraud. Tiffany explained how she’d been approached in department stores several times in the past however not in such a Machiavellian way.
These psychic con artists are hanging out in shopping malls, airports, popular coffee shops and on the beach. Make sure you stay alert. If you’re approached by someone claiming to be a psychic reader and they try to solicit you in a public place tell them, “Next”.

The Law Of Attraction In The Marketplace
I have been studying and applying the success formula’s of many of the great masters for many years. In the past year or so, thanks in part to a DVD called “The Secret”, there has been a dramatic increase in the public awareness about such principles as Applied Faith, Inspired Action, Deliberate Creation and the Law of Attraction. In fact I have been a student of the law of attraction in the past. However during the past 9 months, I have come to higher level of awareness and understanding of many of these topics.
In particular, I would like to point out the distinction between the principle of “Deliberate Creation” and what is being taught today by modern day guru’s as “the law of attraction.” Some of the distinctions I am about to make may seem like “semantics” to some of you. I can assure you the distinctions I am about to point out are anything but semantics. Your understanding and application of the principle of deliberate creation can have a profound positive impact in your life as well as countless others. Belief in a so called law of attraction on the other hand can be very dis-empowering. Below you will find a short comparison of the principle of Deliberate Creation and the so called law of attraction.
First, let’s start with a few definitions:
Deliberate Creation – “the act of creating done with full consciousness” or “the act of creating done with purpose.”
Law of attraction – “you get what you think about” or “like attracts like.”
You can already see from the definitions above, there is a significant distinction between Deliberate Creation and the Law of Attraction. First of all Deliberate Creation requires action… the Law of Attraction is passive. Deliberate Creation is born out of awareness and consciousness. The Law of Attraction is whimsical at best. Sadly, many business people who, for the most part are very astute, have taken to “thinking themselves” to success. I have heard complaints from sales managers in some very large organizations that their staff have ceased prospecting and cold calling in lieu of “manifesting” leads. While it is imperative that we be in the proper, positive mindset as we grow our businesses, it doesn’t END there. We must TAKE ACTION.

* Implies “if it isn’t working for you” its your fault

It is the surest path to the realization of all of your goals. Become empowered to make clear and conscious choices about your life… coupled with inspired action.

Pointers for the Beginner Hypnotist
Once we know the art of inducing hypnosis, we can discuss some of the finer points, some of the things a beginner ought to know before he proceeds further. These things mean greater success or failure. First, gain the consent of your subject. Second, gain his confidence. Third, gain his sympathetic cooperation. Fourth, create in him a feeling or belief that he will go to sleep if he follows your instructions; that is, create expectancy.
The first requirement will be met when the subject agrees to being hypnotized by you. At least, by word of mouth he will agree. The hypnotist must be such a person as will cause the subject to have confidence in him, his integrity and his ability. The least doubt in the mind of the subject of the ability of the hypnotist to induce hypnosis, or to take care of the subject while asleep or to awaken him, may prevent hypnosis.
The hypnotist should keep himself in a neat and presentable condition. His voice and manners should be pleasing. His voice should be trained to be soothing and at the same time, carry conviction and self-confidence. Therefore, cultivate your voice. His manners should not be those of a conceited despot, but more like a kindly doctor, with the confidence and sincerity of an able lawyer, who knows what he wants and how to get it done. The gleaming eyes of the old-fashioned hypnotists, who thought they must stare their subjects into hypnosis, while they made weird gestures, are passe.
Wild gestures and bulged-out eyes are no longer deemed necessary. I am not in a position to say that intense concentration is not necessary or useful, because it may be possible that mental forces assist in bringing on hypnosis. Many scientists think so. From my experience, I am inclined to believe that the mental reactions of the hypnotist do have some effect on the subject and the results achieved. As to whether this is through projected mental forces or from its reaction on the subject by suggestion, I am not prepared to say, and neither is anyone else.
Some day this question may be answered. I am now working on this question and may have more to say about it later. But let us confine ourselves to the known facts and the practical aspects of the science. It is controversial enough without bringing in known controversial issues.
You may create expectancy in the subject by saying that much benefit may be derived from hypnosis; that he will enjoy a restful relaxation under hypnosis and that no possible harm can come to him; that he will awaken easily; that he will be able to hear everything you say and know everything that is done; that you will awaken him any time he requests you to do so; that hypnosis is just like sleep, except that he will be fully conscious of everything you do and say.
Be sure to say that if he follows your directions and listens to every word you, say, he will go sound asleep.
Emphasize: THAT HE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STAY AWAKE. Say all this with conviction and do not grin when you say it. Make it sound as matter-of-fact as possible – like reading from a history book or stating the total of figures. In other words, just be plain matter-of-fact about the whole thing. This creates expectancy.
The statement, “If you listen to every word I say and do exactly as I say, you will not be able to stay awake,” not only creates expectancy, but if the subject is one of those unimaginative persons who are difficult to hypnotize, these words give you an alibi and may save your subject for a later day when he will be more cooperative and go to sleep.
The mental attitudes of persons vary and on some other day the subject might be more receptive, and thereby you will mark up another success instead of failure. Do not let such a failure discourage you. Remember that the best operators have failures now and then.
With these pointers in mind, you will have greater success as a hypnotist.
