No B.S. – 5 Steps to Restful Sleep

If you are tired of tossing and turning on a regular basis, battling insomnia and then feeling too groggy to face the day, it is time to cut out the ‘you know what’. Step up to the plate and start working through your sleeping difficulties.

Here are some tips:

Identify the Problem
Don’t just write off your insomnia as something that everyone experiences. Though millions of people do suffer from restlessness, that does not mean that you should leave it go. A chronic problem like sleeplessness will affect your health, so letting it persist for too long can make you look older, can affect your memory and just make you a grumpy gus.

Get Into a Healthy Routine
Though those old habits die hard, you have to put your body and mind back on the right track. A good place to start is to try to go to sleep at the same time every night. While this may prove difficult for the first week, everything beyond will help you to combat your insomnia. Your body will become accustomed to feeling drowsy at a certain time, and you will more than likely receive the same amount of hours each night, which should be about eight.

No Food or Drink Allowed
Sure, we all love to roam the kitchen for those midnight snacks, but you have to reevaluate what means more: eating that piece of cake once, or having a lifetime of good rest. Also, for you coffee and soda fiends, if you absolutely have to have your fix on a daily basis, cut off the drinking at least four or five hours before you plan on heading to bed. The body needs sufficient time to process these chemicals and digest those foods in order for it to feel restful.

A Little Help Never Hurt Anyone
It may be hard to sift through all of the sleep aids that are out on the market today, but there are a few ways you can combat restlessness. Perhaps you might want to look into new linens or pillows to make the bed more comfortable. Or maybe using some aromatherapy such as a sleeping mist will send you peacefully into a slumber. Or suppose your partner is willing to give you a nice massage to totally relax you. We cannot always solve our problems on our own, and insomnia is no exception.

What’s Up, Doc?
So many times, even when people identify that they have a health problem like insomnia, they are still not willing to be proactive about it. Your health professional is there to assist when you are having any medical issues, so if you are having trouble sleeping frequently, isn’t it about time you talked to your physician? He can pinpoint the severity of the problem and offer sound advice as to how to get rid of insomnia completely. Remember, health experts are in place for a reason so use those resources.

So, start heeding these five steps and you’ll be dreaming in no time!

How to Improve Sleep Comfort and Get Rid of Back Pain

The mattress industry has seen somewhat sporadic patterns of growth over the past decade or so. It seems from the current trends that, in our fast-paced and overworked society, we just do not seem to make a good night of sleep a high enough priority in the grand scheme of things.

Shopping for the right mattress is probably some of the most important browsing you will ever do in life. This is something that will be with you every night for the next few years, so make sure that is one that suits your needs, not necessarily the lightest and fluffiest mattress in the store.

Your insomnia may be a direct result of all of the tossing and turning that you have done for several nights in a row on that mattress of yours now. Not only is it lumpy, but you most likely sleep in the same spot each night, especially if you sleep next to someone, and you have worn a rut into it over time.

When the springs start to get old and the mattress begins to lose its shape, you can expect a great deal of restlessness in your future. A good and reliable mattress should somewhat cradle your entire body, all the while correcting posture and having a firmness to it to prevent the back from arching. This arching is often times the main reason why you have trouble sleeping because your body is in a very unnatural position, keeping you awake until you get settled.

Sleep should be something that you look forward to, and not something that causes more problems for you down the road. When you get the right bed, you will sleep like a baby because you are maintaining the body’s natural alignment. Another technique you may want to try is to put a pillow between your legs. This may also decrease your trouble sleeping because this will help your legs stay in the right position for the night.

Any chiropractor or orthopedic surgeon will tell you that back issues are predominantly caused by not sleeping in the correct position. The mattress type is quite important, but also the way in which you sleep can make all the difference in the world for comfort. It is encouraged to sleep on your side, particularly on the right side, with the neck slightly elevated, and the legs slightly bent. People make the mistake of using two or three pillows to sleep on, which arches the neck, and puts extra strain on the back. Sleeping on the stomach sometimes causes a curve in the upper back, while sleeping on the back is often too intense for the lower back.

When you turn in for the night, you should not let these physical challenges ruin a good night of sleep. If getting a good mattress and sleeping in the correct positions are the keys for ending insomnia, then you need to take heed right away. This way you avoid horrible back problems down the road, and you can stay asleep for eight hours straight like you are supposed to.

Where Does the Expression “Sleep Tight” Come From?

We have all heard the old saying of “sleep tight don’t let the bed bugs bite”. Since this is incredibly gross, let’s just focus on the first part.

Many historians have suggested that the “sleep tight” part actually comes from Colonial times, when the mattresses were laid upon ropes, which were very primitive models of what we know as box springs. The ropes were interwoven, somewhat resembling a hammock, and were expected to be taut and stretched to capacity. If they were not, the mattress would sag in the middle, causing lumps, and making for a very uncomfortable sleep where you just sink into the middle of the bed.

So, sleep tight was actually a good wish for folks, because then your mattress would be comfortable and firm, and great for the back, which of course would prevent restlessness.

Since the days of sleeping on taut ropes are long gone, this expression has slowly developed new meaning. Tight is a word that can be used to mean so many things in slang. But even with the language changes over the years, sleep tight is still a good wish of sorts, in that you want the person to have a wonderful night of rest.

Nowadays, people have attributed this saying to mean the way in which a baby might sleep. Since newborns are coming from an incredibly warm place, that being the womb, they have not gone through the proper development yet to account for body temperature adjustments. As such, they need to be wrapped tightly to stave off the cold, and providing them the comfort they need in order to sleep through their naps. So, in this case, the term “sleep tight” may actually mean to bundle up well so you avoid a chilly night. Or, wrap yourself up and feel cozy because that will help you fight off insomnia.

But, the expression might not be so complex after all. We say this so frivolously, that we often forget that we really do want the person to have a full night of sleep. When we think about all of the ways tight is used now, the actual meaning is ‘well’ or ’sound’ in regards to sleeping.

If we picture what tight sleep is supposed to be, it would most likely be a very plush yet firm mattress, soft and cool linens, cozy pajamas, a wide open space, no distractions, tons of pillows, just to name a few things. Wishing this on someone would imply that sleeping tight is really our fantasy sleep situation. We should be in a place that is warm and inviting and makes us want to stay there for eight hours straight.

So the next time you hear these words uttered to you, simply turn to the person and sincerely remark, ‘thank you I surely will’. Then turn over, pull the covers up, and settle in for quite some time. Oh, and be grateful that you no longer have to sleep on ropes!

Self-Pleasure For Women a Dildo Overview

Dildo use is pretty wide spread and a recent survey in a monthly glossy magazine reported that 20% of young professional women between the ages of 24 and 35 carry a dildo with most of the time. Self-pleasure has proven to have health benefits and can lead to better sex life through self discovery.

What is a dildo?

There is some debate over what constitutes a dildo. The general consensus is that a non-vibrating device, resembling a penis shape, size and overall appearance is a dildo. Women more commonly now associate vibrating devices in that definition. Prosthetic aids or penis extensions can also be included as can sex toys/aids for anal penetration such as butt plugs although not everyone associates them with the term dildo.

The development of the dildo

Believe it or not the sex toy use goes back way into history. The world oldest dildo is a siltstone 20cm phallus dated 30,000 years old found in a cave in Germany. It is known that ancient Egyptians used dildos over 2,500 years ago.

The early dildos were made of wood, leather and pottery. In the 1940’s technology intervened thank goodness and PVC and rubber were introduced as were steel springs for stiffness.

Now today we girls have silicone dildos that are easy to keep clean, inexpensive and great for the first time user. The latest material to gain a following is Pyrex glass that is expensive and inflexible but some women just love the feel of.

How the Dildo can be used

There are many uses for the dildo but the most common uses apart from vaginal/clitoral stimulation such as for fetishist value. Partners may use them for foreplay running them over skin. They can be used for anal penetration or even oral penetration if of the right size. People often use them as a sort of artificial fellatio.

The Wonderful world of the dildo

There is so much choice dildos come in all various shapes and can even be double ended making for twice the fun in the right environment. There are inflatable dildos, dildos with balls, flare based or even those with suction cups for easier control (can be placed on an inanimate object).

What to look for when buying a dildo

The three main aspects of buying a dildo are shape, material and colour. A woman wants something that looks and feels good. Most dildos are made of rubber. Even with rubber there are different types with jelly rubber being quite popular and coming in interesting colours.

Silicone rubber is of better quality and has the added benefits of retaining body heat well, it’s resilient, non-porous and can be boiled to sterilize. Silicone also feels great when vibrating and is great when used for clitoral stimulation. Silicone comes in a great range of sizes, shapes and colours so you can really find something appropriate for you.

Hard plastic dildos are inflexible and many women just don’t like the feel of them. If women use these then it is often only for short periods of time. I would suggest that hard plastic is really only for more experienced dildo users.

When buying a dildo really think about what you want from them and it is better to start a little smaller rather that go for one too big. Dildos aren’t cheap and they are certainly not returnable so for a newbies a jelly rubber dildo could be the ideal starting point.
